HOBBY SHOP EXCLUSIVE SET
One of the most colorful and memorable road names on the rails in the 1970's and 1980's, Chessie System's stylized look was framed by a bright yellow, blue, and orange paint scheme and a beloved "Chessie" kitten imbedded in the logo. Top-of-the-line 4-axle power in its day, a U36B locomotive takes the spotlight in this modern diesel set, pulling a hefty load of four distinctive freight cars. The hicube boxcar in this set features the famous "Sleeps like a Kitten" logo used in Chessie System advertising. The 4-Bay hopper features an all-new woodchip extension on the roof of the car, a first-time offering by Lionel. The gondola carries two removable coil covers and the detail extended vision caboose comes equipped with interior illumination.
Each of the three "fallen flag" railroads that made up the Chessie System in the 1970's and 1980's are represented in this very special set
